Waylon Miller became principal of St. Hilary School in the summer of 2026, taking charge of the K-8 parish school on Hilary Drive in time for the first day of classes on 24 August. He arrived with a career in public education behind him — he has taught second grade, coached wrestling and run a public high school — so between a primary classroom, a wrestling mat and a high school he has worked at just about every level of a school building. What he wanted next, he told The Ark, was “to work in an environment where I could blend both my faith and my career into one opportunity,” and to “work with students to continue to get the most out of them and show them pathways towards better learning and better life.” Introducing himself to St. Hilary families, he put it from the other direction: as “both an educator and a Catholic husband and father,” he said, he believes Catholic education is about “so much more than helping students succeed academically” — it is about helping each child discover the unique person God created them to be. Alongside the school he carries Local Missions on the parish's ministry chart.
